Our Collecive

Mission Statement:
To provide an inclusive and supportive environment for an under represented
community of artists to share knowledge and opportunities that promote
individual excellence, collaboration, inspire new creative perspectives, and offer
engagement with the public to foster participation, appreciation, and support of
the arts.

About Us:
Amber Art Collective is a collective that formed in early 2023. The Founding
members are -Dianetta Dye, Daejona Gordon, and Pat Kabore (Paga).
Kabore is a native Detroiter and hails from Pacolet South Carolina, Dye, and Gordon
currently live and work in Detroit Michigan, the group is a collective of
like-minded visual artist professionals who have come together to collaborate,
connect, explore, grow, share knowledge, assist independent artists, and
showcase their work. The common thread that unites this collective is that they
are all women of Color, grew up in the City of Detroit, who’s creative mediums are
as diverse as the women themselves. Their works have a neo-primordial aesthetic,
the groups methods are Multidisciplinary: artists from different disciplines working
together, each drawing on their disciplinary knowledge and also Interdisciplinary:
integrating knowledge and methods from different disciplines, using a real
synthesis of approaches.

The Amber Art Collective come to art from diverse backgrounds and create art
using many different mediums, but collectively, are passionate about the work
they create and committed to the development of new opportunities for artistic
advancement.

Our Founding Members

Patricia Kabore (PAGA)
Pat Kabore is a master printmaker and mixed media artist whose works are influenced by historical as well as current
events, her own personal life experiences and exposures to different cultures. Exhibited in numerous one woman and group shows, Pat’s
work has been shown in museums, fine art galleries, and in public venues. With her work in the permanent collections of
seven national and regional museums, including the Smithsonian, in national and regional museums, in University and in private collections. Juried nine out of ten years in the Washington DC Printmaker’s Fine Art Calendar project, her hand pulled prints
were in editions ranging from 90 to 150. Pat has a passion for teaching art to young people, seniors and
persons with special needs. She feels strongly that beauty belongs to everyone, and it is important that she shares her talents with those who have not had an opportunity to have a creative experience. As a Michigan Legislator designated mentor artist, Pat Kabore has enjoyed teaching as an Artist in Residence in Michigan, Virginia, Kentucky, and South Carolina. Her work raises questions, explores feelings, challenges thought and is a cultural bridge between people.

Dianetta Dye

I realized I was a maker early on in my life and I've tried to nurture my abilities with little restriction." Recent works include mixed media collage and abstract expressions. My work intends to explore the connections to ancestors, an affinity to the Hue-man condition, and a desire to promote Good Juju. “I have always been an artist. Messing around with random objects and mediums seeing what would turn up is an exercise that continues to bring me great joy.

Ida Hawkins

I have a great love and passion for art to which I have dedicated my life. I believe creativity is about living with an open mind, accepting new ideas, and implementing them. It's very gratifying when I'm creating and making one-of-a-kind masterpieces. I wanted to give viewers a wide ranger of and emotions throughout my artwork.

DaeJona Gordon

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, DaeJona Gordon is a talented digital artist and photographer renowned for her captivating visual storytelling. Inspired by nature and her peers, she seamlessly blends creativity and technology to produce stunning works that resonate with audiences worldwide. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for innovation, Daejona's artistry transcends boundaries, capturing the essence of her surroundings and leaving a lasting impression on all who encounter her work.

Adwoa Muwzea
Adwoa Muwzea is a mixed media, watercolor and collage artist. She has been creating images and artworks for most of her life, even as a youngster. When she talks about her style of making and creating, Muwzea usually describes herself with terms such as Minimalist and Abstract Expressionist. “I am attracted to subjects that allow me to design without restraint, including landscapes, still life and abstracts. When I paint I begin with water and add acrylic ink.” Muwzea's approach is intuitive and her ideas develop into designs and images that relate to natural environments, feelings or emotions and iconic symbols that represent African spirituality. Besides ink, Muwzea sculpts paper and draws with oil pastels and uses a variety of papers and found objects to create images that affect the sensibilities of an audience that is drawn to her vibrant colors and abstract styles.
